PAUL MEYERS FOUNDATION

Paul is best remembered by his friends as a kind-natured guy who enjoyed playing basketball for VHHS where he was voted to have the “Most School Spirit” by his senior class.  He went on to play basketball for Rhodes College where he also graduated cum laude with a degree in Business Administration. In addition to basketball, Paul was a proud member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity where he found his calling as Social Chairman.

 

After college, Paul attended The University of Mississippi School of Law and graduated cum laude in 2004. He most recently was serving the State of Tennessee as an Assistant Public Defender in Jackson, TN and at one time had aspirations of becoming a judge.  

 

When Paul was still in college, he lost his father at the young age of 47 to a heart attack. Paul immediately stepped up to the plate, helping his mother and sisters cope with the shock of losing a parent at such a young age. As the only man of the family, he put the needs of his sisters and mother before his own. As a leader to the Meyers family, Paul encouraged his sisters to be kind-hearted servants, and he set an excellent example by volunteering through many organizations. Some favorite family service projects included ringing the bell for the Salvation Army while dressed in costume (Paul as “Skinny Santa”) and delivering Christmas presents to the children’s division of the Western Mental Health Institute in Boliver, TN, complete with an old-fashioned popcorn maker and hot dog roller.
